I was born in a rural village in Samastipur, Bihar. I did the Bacheolar in Physiotherapy from Pacfic college of Physiotherapy, Gorakhpur ,UP. For better hands on skill I moved to New Delhi for doing the Internhip. After completion of the Internship I had joined working with a clinic in Patel Nagar, New Delhi. I used to see a lot of patients with Neurological Impairments, and wanted to learn more about it. To learn more on it, I joined the Post Grad Diploma in Developmental Therapy:Multiple Disabilites( Physical and Neurological) from AADDI, New Delhi.
Soon after the completion of the masters I shifted to Dehradun and started working with Latika Roy Foundation,Vasant Vihar, Dehradun. LRF provides Early intervention, Education, Vocational training , Awarness about disability and also acts as a resource center for the persons with Disabilites from the Uttrakhand state. While working with the foundation I was engaged in providing Therapy,desigening adaptive devices and designing Cooperative games for the childrens at Karuna Vihar, Special School. At the Center for Vocational Training for our young adults I am working presently, and taking care of their health/Physical fitness and involved in providing the young adults training in games and sports.. I was always concernd to know more on the grassroot level of work, so that the common person with Disability gets benifit by the Rehabilitative measures. Still 70% of the population in India is residing in the rural places, with farming as their prime occupation.
I was recently selected amongst the 5 Fellows from the developing part of the world for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Fellowship, offered by the Special Olympics International,USA. This was the first time that such a Fellowship was offered by SO. EKS fellowship foccused on creating leaders in the SO movement. During my stay in USA I was placed with Special Olympics North Carolina. With SONC I learned a lot on the grassroot level work, Fund Raising, Event Management, and Physiotherapy. There were serveal rotations to D.C for some specific traning like the publicity , communications,Research etc. Several confferences were orgnised with different leaders from various parts of the world. This helped me to understand the Leadership in a betterway.
Presently, I am conducting Fun Games, Dehradun.
